Holders Delhi University retained the title

Holders Delhi University retained the title beating last year’s runner-up Punjab university,Chandigarh 2-0 in the final of the North-East Zone Inter-University Championship for women at St Stephens college court, here on Thursday.
. International players Bhambri sisters helped Delhi university to retain the title .They won their all matches in straight sets. B.HU,Varanasi finished third,prevailing over MJP,Rohilkhand,Bareilly 2-0 in the match for losing semifinalists

Leading teams from the North and East Zone participated in the tournament. The tournament played on a knockout basis . Holders University of Delhi , runner up Punjab university,Chandigarh, semifinalist Banaras Hindu University Varanasi were directly seeded into Quarterfinals.

Delhi university beat Punjab University, Chandigarh 2-0.(Ankita Bhambri beat Alpit Siddhu 6-0,6-0 and Sanaa Bhambri beat Neha Kumar 6-1,6-0)
